Edison Valley Playhouse to hold Open Auditions for the musical "Nunsense II - The Second Coming" by Dan Goggin. The director is Linda Viel, Musical Director – Emily Bengels and Choreographer – Samantha Tirone.
Open auditions will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 - 2 to 5 pm and Sunday, September 29, 2013 - 1 to 4 pm (callbacks 4 to 6 pm) at the Edison Valley Playhouse, 2196 Oak Tree Rd, Edison, NJ 08820.
Performances are Friday and Saturday December 6 – 21, 2013 at 8 pm and Sunday December 8 and 15, 2013 at 2 pm.
Like the original, NUNSENSE II takes place in the "gymnatorium" of Mt. Saint Helen's School. It features the same five nuns, six weeks later, now bitten by the theater bug and ready to put on a "Thank-You Program" for all the people who supported them in their first benefit. This time, the set is dressed with props from the musical, The Mikado. For all those patrons who didn't attend the first benefit, Sister Hubert has written a "high-speed" synopsis for the Sisters to act out, immediately bringing everyone up-to-date. So original NUNSENSE fans will be greeting old friends, while first-timers at NUNSENSE II will feel completely at home with new friends. The following roles may be auditioned for:
SISTER MARY REGINA, the mother superior of the Little Sisters of Hoboken. Any age. Vocal range: F(3)-D(5) Mezzo or Alto range, Jazz / Swing style
SISTER MARY HUBERT, the novice nuns' teacher. Any age. Vocal range: F(3)-C(5) Mezzo or Alto range, Gospel style
SISTER ROBERT ANNE, the tough nun who ministers to wayward youth. Any age. Vocal range: F#(3)-F(5) Mezzo or Alto range, Show Belter/ballad styles
SISTER MARY AMNESIA, the ingénue nun who has lost her memories. Also has a puppet alter ego named Sister Mary Annette (ventriloquism and puppet experience area plus but not required) Any age. Vocal range: G(3)-B(5) High Soprano range, Broadway and Country style
SISTER MARY LEO, the novice nun who dabbles in ballet. Roller skating experience a plus. Any age. Vocal range: F(3 )-G(5) Mezzo or Soprano range, Flexible show style
Those wishing to audition should prepare a song (about one minutes in length), preferably in the style of your intended character(s). Please provide your own sheet music, an accompanist will be provided.
Auditions will also consist of a brief dance audition, so please wear movement friendly clothing. If you are a tap dancer, please bring your tap shoes.
