Auditions for The Mayo Performing Arts Center’s production "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" will take place Thursday, February 7 and Sunday, February 10 at the Theatre, located on 100 South Street.
The performances of Joseph will mark the first time MPAC has produced a musical for public presentation. Four performances will be held Friday, May 31 through Sunday, June 2.
Roles will be available for children ranging from age 7 through 21.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical with lyrics by Tim Rice. The story is based on the "coat of many colors" story of Joseph from the Bible's Book of Genesis. Its family-friendly storyline, universal themes and catchy music have resulted in numerous productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; according to the Really Useful Group, by 2008 more than 20,000 schools and amateur theatre groups had successfully put on productions.
The audition dates: Thursday, February 7: 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. children ages 7-12 for children’s choir. Sign-up will begin at 4:00 p.m. 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. for ages 13 – 21. Sign-up will begin at 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, February 10, 2013, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. children ages 7-12 for children’s choir. Sign-up will begin at 12:30 p.m. 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. for ages 13 – 21 with sign-up begining at 3:30 p.m.
The audition location is The Mayo Performing Arts Center, 9 Pine Street, Morristown, NJ
(please do not go to the main lobby – please use the Education Studio entrance at 9 Pine Street)
What to prepare:
For ages 7-12 -
Prepare 16 bars of an uptempo song . Bring sheet music in the appropriate key - all lyrics must be memorized. It is acceptable to sing from the “Joseph” score. If you do not have sheet music, you can purchase music online at www.Musicnotes.com or www.sheetmusicplus.com.
For ages 13 – 21
Prepare 16 bars of an uptempo song. Boys – please also have 16 bars of a ballad prepared in case you are asked to sing something else. It is acceptable to sing from the “Joseph” score. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key - all lyrics must be memorized. If you do not have sheet music, you can purchase music online at the web addresses above.

February 11 – 13, 2013 (specific dates and times will be scheduled as needed)
Performance Dates:
Friday, May 31, 2013 7:30 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013 2:00p.m., 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 2, 2013 2:00p.m.
The rehearsal schedule:
"Rehearsals will vary somewhat, but the bulk of rehearsals will be on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons to start. (this is subject to change) As the production get closer students will need to be available during the week. All cast members must be available from May 24th – May 30th for tech rehearsals. Please note that we will be rehearsing during Memorial Day Weekend."
