It’s hard to believe really, but many European car makers including Audi,Volvo, Mercedes Benz, BMW and Porsche will literally fly you to Europe, put you up in a hotel, sell you a car cheaper than in the U.S., and ship it home for free when you buy a new one of their's.
It’s a common practice that not too many people know about, and it’s called “European Delivery.”
The meat and potatoes of the whole deal is that European car makers attract the possibility of a new car sale by adding on a free European vacation onto the deal.
Commonly what will happen is that up to two people get free airfare to the location of the car factory. Once there, you usually take a factory tour of the location and take delivery of your car where you can drive your car for up to 5 months around Europe (you get a free foreign driving permit).In addition, the car manufacturer will fit the bill for a couple of days at a decent local hotel. All in all it’s a win win situation for anyone thinking of buying a car.In addition, you get the possibility to drive around some exotic places that would be impossible to reach once you take possession of your car on American shores.
The catch is that some amenities aren’t covered like food and insurance, but all in all many people cite having a positive experience with European delivery.
