Want to get an idea of how New Yorkers might live and get around in, say, 2030?
An exhibit sponsored by German auto manufacturer Audi will explore those ideas in an exhibit at Openhouse Gallery, 201 Mulberry St., Saturday May, 7, through Monday, May 9.
Called the Audi Urban Future Initiative, it will feature the visions of a futuristic Manhattan by five emerging New York City-based architects.
They will be contained in a 50-foot interactive exhibit called Project New York and be part of New Museum's first-ever "Festival of Ideas for the New City," an initiative involving scores of downtown organizations, from large universities to arts institutions and community groups.
A variety of additional weekend events will also imagine a future New York and explore ideas that may shape it.
"The years ahead may well define new understandings about the future of urban living and mobility," said Johan de Nysschen, Audi of America president. "So it is a privilege for Audi to kick off a discussion on diverse visions of this future here in New York . . ."
The interactive Audi model will be on display May 7 from noon to 7 p.m. and May 8 and May 9 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
