No doubt with Van Helsing’s approval, the first automotive commercial during this Sunday’s Super Bowl will highlight the 2013 Audi S7, whose LED headlights achieve 5,500 Kelvin brightness, the closest thing to actual sunlight produced by an automotive headlamp.
With impish humor, Audi’s 2013 S7 commercial spot has a late arrival to a Vampire Woodsy, i.e. a party in the woods, unaware of the electromagnetic impact of his car’s headlights.
He parks and as each and every pointy-toothed partier turns to look at the seductive front of the Audi A7 they burst into a puff of smoke, one by one.
The astonished Johnny Come Lately steps out of the car with his cooler bag full of warm blood, only to see smoking boots and spike heels. Stupefied, he turns to look back at what he emerged from only to disappear in a puff of smoke himself.
Doubtless, the high-tech headlamps are only one remarkable aspect of the Audi S7, which wrings 420 horsepower out of it’s new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. The premium five-door coupe features cutting edge technology with systems such as “cylinder on demand.”
This powerplant will accelerate the S7 from 0 to 62 mph in a respectable 4.9 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to a mere 155 mph.
The cylinder on demand feature is a system that can shut down four cylinders under a lowered load, adding cylinders seamlessly and the greater engine output is required. Sound monitors in the cabin monitor engine noise, using the stereo system to cancel them out.
Late night TV viewers may see the commercial before the big game on select cable channels between midnight and 3 a.m. Lucky Examiner.com readers can see it here and now. Aptly the commercial is titled Daylight.
