Audi brings new luxury crossover to U.S. in 2014

Audi announced today that it will roll out the Q3 luxury crossover vehicle in the North American market during the fall of 2014.

The Q3, which first went on sale internationally in 2011, will compete directly with the compact BMW X1. The small SUV will reportedly feature a 2.0-liter TFSI turbo-four rated at 200 hp.

"We are now, for the first time, entering into the premium compact class of SUVs," said Scott Keogh, president of Audi of America in a statement.

The Q3 joins Audi's larger Q5 and Q7 luxury models. It shares many components, including transmission and engine, with the Volkswagen Golf and Audi A3.

Audi is a division of the Volkswagen Group.
