The Q3, which first went on sale internationally in 2011, will compete directly with the compact BMW X1. The small SUV will reportedly feature a 2.0-liter TFSI turbo-four rated at 200 hp.
"We are now, for the first time, entering into the premium compact class of SUVs," said Scott Keogh, president of Audi of America in a statement.
The Q3 joins Audi's larger Q5 and Q7 luxury models. It shares many components, including transmission and engine, with the Volkswagen Golf and Audi A3.
Audi is a division of the Volkswagen Group.
