The eBay bids for the floor section from the St. Peter's Church hall where John Lennon and Paul McCartney met skyrocketed Oct. 15 after news of the auction was reported the day before.
The bids, which stood at £52.59 ($84.00) at the end of the day Oct. 13, rose to £750 ($1,198) as of 21:54:15 BST (4:58 p.m. ET/1:58 p.m. PT) Tuesday.
Donna Jackson, who is coordinating the auction with St. Peter's, told Beatles Examiner Tuesday, “Everyone at St Peter's is amazed but delighted at the response to the floor block currently for sale on eBay. We thought there would be some interest and hoped to raise about £200. It's always a pleasure to show people around the Church Hall, and we know how much it means to the visitors, but we didn't expect this level of response to the chance to own a piece of history. We're absolutely thrilled!"
The bidding began on Oct. 13 at £.99 ($1.58). As of 1 a.m. ET Wednesday, there have been 27 bids by 11 bidders. The auction will run for seven more days.
