At the end of January storms and tornadoes ripped through the village of Ashmore, Illinois. Amongst the damage was Ashmore Estates. Ashmore Estates was an old poor farm built in 1916. The poor farm housed people who were indigent or mentally disabled. For 40 years Ashmore Estates was known as the Coles County Almshouse. As many as 200 people died here. From 1956 to 1976 it housed the mentally impaired as a mental institution. Since 2006 Ashmore Estates has been investigated by numerous paranormal groups.
Ashmore Estates is in need of repairs. People have come from miles to help with clean up efforts. Ashmore Estates is still in need of supplies and clean up crews. Financial support is needed too. Many people have stepped up to help with these efforts. Spooked TV, the Booth Brothers and Keith Age will donate $10.00 from the sale of each Children of the Grave 2 DVD. These DVD's are autographed. The donations will be made to The Ashmore Estates Fund to help raise the money to put a roof back on this historic building.
If you want to help, you can donate to The Ashmore Estates Fund. You will also have the opportunity to help by attending the Save Ashmore Estates Paranormal Auction. This auction will be on Saturday March 2, 2013 beginning from Noon - 9 p.m. at Custom Smokehouse and Grill in Mattoon, Illinois.
This event is hosted by: Paranormal teams: Living Dead Paranormal, Mid Illinois Ghost Society (MIGS), Illinois Metaphysical Paranormal Society (IMPS), and Mattoon Investigation of Paranormal Activity (MIPA). All proceeds from the benefit will be used for repairs to damage the building suffered in a recent tornado.
