While the holidays are officially over, you can still enjoy a taste of them with Au Bon Pain. The international café bakery introduced a seasonal, holiday menu at its U.S. cafés that are available now through January 12, 2014 and include eight new additions.
With flavors like cinnamon, gingerbread, peppermint, and mushrooms, the new offerings can be found in the breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert menus. We recently visited the Boston location at One International Place and sampled the chicken, mushroom and Swiss sandwich from the holiday menu served on a soft sprouted grain roll. (Each roll has 10 grams of protein and seven grams of fiber). From the traditional year-round menu, we also tried the classic chicken salad sandwich, which had a delicious blend of cranberries, almonds and tomatoes served on fresh white country bread.
For dessert, be sure to try the cinnamon walnut coffee cake, a mini holiday bundt cake filled with cinnamon spice and topped with walnuts, the gingerbread cookie or the peppermint chocolate shortbread with peppermint topping.
