An Attleboro school was placed in lockdown after a couple of children said that they saw a man carrying a gun enter the building. On Oct. 8, CBS Boston reported that police were immediately called to the school to look for a suspicious man and to secure the area. K-9 units and helicopters spent hours in the area this afternoon.
"Searching area of Warmsutta School for a man with a Gun. School in lock down. Perimeter established. Black male baggy pants, white shirt," Attleboro police tweeted shortly after news broke. Several police from local towns have also gone to Attleboro to assist in the investigation.
The Attleboro school went into lockdown around 1:00 p.m. today. Very little information was released but police did say that they were looking for "a black man with baggy pants and a white shirt." The last tweet that was sent out by the Attleboro police was at 1:13 p.m. There have not been any updates on that situation on local news or on Twitter. The search has been called "ongoing."
At this point, it is presumed that the children have been dismissed from school but that isn't clear. Again, no further information or updates are available at this time.
At least one Attleboro school was in lockdown today. Many reports suggest that two schools in the area were actually locked down.
