Attention Long Islanders: Chocolate World Expo is heading your way

Chocolate lovers living anywhere near Long Island may soon consider Marvin Baum of Baum Image Group, Inc.  to be among their best friends!    On Sunday, March 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Cradle of Aviation Museum on Charles Lindbergh Boulevard in Garden City, New York, Baum Image Group will present a delicious new Long Island experience - the Chocolate World Expo

As Long Island’s first major chocolate show, Chocolate World Expo will feature a wide range of products from approximately 50 local and regional vendors.  Offerings will include dark, milk and white chocolate as well as sugar-free, gluten-free and kosher options.  Some of the more unique products on hand will be chocolate wines, chocolate-flavored coffees, chocolate salad dressing, chocolate-scented soaps, chocolate-covered bacon and even chocolate-covered pickles.  New York’s “Chocolate Sommelier” , Roxanne Browning, will host chocolate and wine pairings using wines from Long Island’s Clovis Point Winery.  There will truly be something for every chocolate lover!

Recently I spoke with Marvin Baum to find out how this deliciously decadent event got its start.  Back in 2004, Marvin was in the digital imaging field and one of his clients had been the photographer of the 1969 Woodstock Festival.  When Marvin learned from his client that no one was producing an event in honor of Woodstock’s 35th anniversary he bravely decided he would do it himself - despite a complete lack of experience in producing events!  He partnered with the State of New York to create the celebration which included an opening reception featuring breweries, wineries, bakeries, cheese producers and chocolatiers.  The event received international media attention and led to an invitation from the New York State Executive Mansion for Marvin to participate in planning then Governor George Pataki’s annual holiday celebration to benefit the Make-A-Wish foundation.  Marvin developed the idea of a “chocolate expo” for the event and it was from these beginnings that Chocolate World Expo was born!

Marvin’s charitable contributions to the community have continued with his Chocolate World Expo events.  He is asking attendees at the Long Island show to bring non-perishable food items for the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Long Island Cares, Inc.  Additionally, since the Girl Scouts will be celebrating their 100th anniversary on March 12th, Marvin has invited them to be part of Chocolate World Expo where they will be selling their cookies to raise funds to support our troops overseas and for various local community needs.  How can you beat that - chocolate everywhere AND those awesome thin mint chocolate cookies!

Admission to Chocolate World Expo is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 2 through 12.  Children under 2 years of age are free.  Tickets include full access to the Cradle of Aviation Museum’s fascinating exhibits spanning the history of aviation and a ride on the historic Nunley’s Carousel.  Admission to the Museum’s X-Ride flight simulator, giant domed-screen theater and Firefighter’s Museum can be optionally purchased with each ticket.

Tickets are available on the day of the show at the Cradle of Aviation Museum Box Office and can also be purchased in advance during regular museum hours.  For more information and directions, visit www.ChocolateWorldExpo.com.

Chocolate World Expo has been deliciously successful at the Meadowlands in New Jersey and in Westchester County.  The debut of the show in Long Island is sure to be just as tasty!
