Attacks on women in Northville and Farmington Hills may be linked

On Wednesday approximately 12 hours apart, a woman was attacked in Northville, and another was attacked in Farmington Hills.

Investigators think they may be linked. Farmington Hills Police Department Officials said they are working with Northville police in the investigations.

In the Northville incident, a 69-year-old woman had just returned home from the Northville Communiy Center about 11 a.m. when a man n a dark coat approached her. He carried a burgundy portfolio snd asked if she would take part in a survey, police said. She asked for identification because she did not see any.

The woman said that was the last thing she remebered; she woke up and asked a friend to drive her to Providence Park Hospital in Novi.

She was trated for a fractured jaw and a severe head injury. On Thursday, she was listed in stable condition.

The woman's purse, with her cellphone, credit cards and ID, was taken.

Police say the phone was recovered in a wooded area between Founders Sports Park and the Green Hill complex near Eight Mile and Halsted in Farmington Hills.

In Farmington Hills, a 42-year-old woman was inside the exterior entrance to the Village Green condominiums near Eight Mile and Grand River about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday when she was assaulted with a club-type weapon, police said.

She was treated by Farmington Hills Fire Department personel at the scene and transported to a local hospital.

Her condition wasn't released by the hospital yet, but police say she was seriously injured.

The suspect in the Farmington Hills attack is described as a black male, about 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 ffeet 2 inches tall, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a beige jacket and blue jeans while driving a light brown late '90s Ford Taurus.
