Atom Splitters seek berth in PBA League Elias Cup finals

So who will the Los Angeles X face in the Elias Cup finals?

That will be determined when the Silver Lake (Calif.) Atom Splitters take on the Philadelphia Hitmen in a Professional Bowlers League semifinal at 10 a.m. Sunday on ESPN.

The Elias Cup finals will be shown at 11 a.m. April 13 on ESPN from Brunswick Zone Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick, N.J.

The Atom Splitters will try to make it an all-L.A. final behind franchise player Chris Barnes, a 17–time PBA Tour winner. Barnes (shown in photo) blasted a sizzling 265 to win his singles match in the Atom Splitters’ 5-1 victory over the Dallas Strikers in a first-round match.

Barnes made a run at a perfect game, logging nine straight strikes before leaving the 4-6-7 split in the 10th frame.

The X reached the Elias Cup finals by defeating the defending-champion New York City WTT KingPins, 5-1.

Interestingly, the Atom Splitters and X were not among the four teams that reached last year’s Elias Cup finals.
