San Francisco world travelers heading out on a cruise this summer should be sure to check out the Atlantic Ocean Comedy & Music Festival (aka Boat Party). Back for it’s second annual voyage, the cruise promises to be “the most thrilling vacation you could possibly take… now with more shuffleboard.”
But don’t be fooled by the choice of on-deck sport, this is not your grandmother’s cruise. Boat Party performers cater to the edgy and hip, and were fittingly picked by NPR’s “Bullseye with Jesse Thorn” host, and San Francisco native, Jesse Thorn.
“As the host of Bullseye, it's my job to know tons of amazing musicians and comics, so there's a surfeit of talent,” said Thorn.
Bay Area residents will see some familiar, hometown names among the Boat Party performers. Greg Behrendt and Karen Kilgariff are both from the North Bay, and made their names in San Francisco’s early 90s alt-comedy scene. Moshe Kasher's from Oakland, and W. Kamau Bell is, according to Thorn, “a San Francisco institution at this point… last year Chris Rock came to the Bay and loved him so much he handed him a TV show.”
Other performers include Kyle Kinane, Chris Fairbanks, Jean Grae and The Long Winters’ John Roderick.
“Along with the nightly entertainment, there are other exclusive activities for attendees throughout the trip,” said Amanda Anderson, Events Director for cruise producer Maximum Fun, Inc. “And aside from the official Boat Party events, the cruise itself has lots of activities to offer, all on or around gorgeous Caribbean islands.”
San Francisco world travelers should be sure to check out the Atlantic Ocean Comedy & Music Festival! You won't be disappointed!
