Food Allergy Research & Education’s (FARE) Walk for Food Allergy takes place Sunday, September 29 at Atlantic Station from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This event unites thousands of Americans seeking a safe and inviting world for people with food allergies, which affect up to 15 million Americans, including one in 13 children.
This walk is one of more than 60 being held across the country to raise funds awareness for food allergy education, awareness, advocacy, and research. The two-mile walk starts at 9:00 a.m. with registration beginning at 8:00 a.m. Before and after the walk, participants get to enjoy live music while visiting with local allergists, companies, and support groups that can answer questions about food allergy. Activities for kids include: ace painting, arts and crafts, balloons, and an inflatable obstacle course.
A number of the participating companies will have gluten-free samples, including:
- Enjoy Life Foods
- Frannie's Gluten Free (local)
- Happy Family Brands
- HomeFree Treats
- Pure Knead (local)
- So Delicious Dairy Free
- SunButter Sunflower Seed Spreads
- Van's Natural Foods
Participants can sign up to walk individually or as part of a team. Sponsorship opportunities are still available, enabling businesses to show their support for families who are living with food allergies from day to day. For more information or to register or volunteer, visit their website.
I have attended this event before and it is such a fun day of community building, giggling children, allergen-friendly food, and fun!
