Atlanta restaurants offer Valentine specials

Atlanta restaurants are offering sweet deals and menus for Valentine’s Day, which falls this year on a Thursday. Take your pick – celebrate on the weekend before or the weekend after, and if “it’s a school night, dear” isn’t an excuse at your house, make reservations for February 14.

A few of the highlights from around the town:

On Thursday, February 14, BLT Steak Atlanta’s chef Cyrille Holota offers a blackboard menu featuring a choice of entrees – roasted Atlantic cod ($34) or a 10 ounce Wagyu flat iron steak and poached lobster ($85), both entrees designed for sharing. Indulge in homemade potato bacon raviolis and top off with a dessert of Valrhona chocolate and pistachio dariole ($10). Atlantans can celebrate Valentine’s Day in Midtown at Ecco. In addition to the regular menu, the restaurant will offer specials of calamari ala plancha with pears, harissa and basil ($9); roasted quail with horizo, farro verde and radish green salsa verde ($15); crispy black cod with young collards, hazelnuts, brown butter, capers and lemon ($27); and milk chocolate torte with blood orange coulis and spiced pecans ($9). 10 Degrees South will offer a prix fixe menu for $60 on February 14 with a safari theme. Restaurant open 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Valentine’s Day.

Buckhead Pizza Company, with three Atlanta area locations, will offer a pizza-making class with a meal that includes a starter, salad, pizza, dessert and champagne, for $29 a person. Available February 14.

If sandwiches are your food of love, check out Seven Hens on North Decatur Road. Its French schnitzel sandwiches are BOGO on February 14. Open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Couples in Roswell can spend Valentine’s Day at Aqua blue. Guests will enjoy a three-course prix fixe menu with items such as New England style clam chowder, twin lobster tails and crème brulee for dessert. HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern will celebrate Sunday, February 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a pre-Valentine chocolate and beer tasting. Four courses of specially prepared chocolate food tasting designed by Executive Chef Brett Ring will be served with four complementary beers. Reservations are required and space is limited. For singles, Fadó Irish Pub & Restaurant in Buckhead is hosting a Nuts and Bolts Valentine’s Day Party on Saturday, February 9, beginning at 10 p.m. Depending on gender, each person will receive a nut or a bolt with hopes to find his or her match by the end of the night. For those guests who have already found their nut and bolt match, Fadó is offering a hearty Irish prix fixe menu to share on Thursday, February 14 from 5 to 10 p.m., $34.95 per person. For $55 per person, Decatur's No. 246 offers a four-course prix fixe menu on Valentine’s Day. Entrée options include wood-oven baked red snapper in cartuccio, butter poached Maine lobster and braised Wagyu beef cheeks. Tax and gratuity are not included. Call 678-399-8246.

South City Kitchen Midtown and South City Kitchen Vinings are preparing a Southern-style, three-course prix fixe Valentine’s Day dinner for $42 per person. Dessert options of velvet Elvis cake, caramel apple toffee pudding and buttermilk chess pie round out the meal. Tax and gratuity are not included. Serpas' “Valentine’s Day and S’more” weekend begins Thursday, February 14, and continues through Sunday, February 17. A three-course prix fixe dinner ($50 per person, $80 per couple) featuring pan-roasted redfish; slow-roasted boneless beef short ribs; dessert and an add-on - a gourmet s’mores kit and a gift blanket for couples to cuddle up and enjoy roasting and toasting by the fire on the patio ($10 per couple with prix fixe dinner, $15 per couple a la carte).
