If you read my column regularly, you know I love Little G Weevil! And last week in Memphis, the International Blues Challenge loved him too. Little G Weevil, representing the Atlanta Blues Society, won in the solo/duo category overall and in the Best Guitarist in category. He received the reward at the historic Orpheum Theatre in Memphis February 2. Congratulations, Little G Weevil.
The other groups representing Atlanta, The Georgia Flood and 38th Parallel, did a great job although they did not win. These are young groups. The only reason The Georgia Flood competed in the adult category is that one member is over 21. I expect to see great things from both these groups in the near future!
The Cazanovas, another Atlanta group we know and love, actually represented Charlotte at the IBC and though they did not win, they did make it to the semi-finals. Great job, guys!
