Atlanta concert picks under $10: March 3-9 (Photos)

It's a cold week in the peach state, which means there's no better time to catch some live tunes- inside! There are six free shows this week, Little Tybee has an album release at the Goat Farm, and Devin has a mixtape release over at Apache Cafe. Speaking of mixtapes, it's time for another installation of Mixtape Atlas' Welcome 2 Atlanta, and this mixtape release party will be at the Masquerade. This show, as well as many for the coming months, had to be rescheduled due to the closing of Little Five Points' beloved Five Spot. Check their calendar page often to see if your favorite acts have been moved to a new venue. Lastly, make sure to visit the Spot one last time on Monday to say goodbye, with the help of The L5P Rock Star Orchestra (You loved them in Dracula!) and Ledfoot Messiah. We would like to give a special shout out to Ally Stevens, talent buyer for the Five Spot for working so hard and so quickly to get everyone rescheduled. Special Events:

  • Mar. 3: Music in the Park Fundraiser, featuring Kebbi Williams- Druid Hills Baptist Church- 7:30 p.m.- $10. This event will feature Williams and friends, including 12 tubas from Morris Brown and Atlanta High Schools. All proceeds go towards this year's Music in the Park.
  • Mar. 4: PRCS Music Presents: Five Spot Closeout Show Part 2, featuring: Little Five Points Rock Star Orchestra- Ledfoot Messiah- Five Spot- 8 p.m.- $10 This will be the last event at the Five Spot, until the fate of the venue is publicly known. The event will also feature performances by Prentice Suspensions and Syrens of the South.
  • Mar. 7: Hard Rock Rising Global Battle of the Bands 2013, Atlanta qualifying showcase 3, featuring: HOTT with Harry Legs- NaJasism- Nine Times Blue- The Roycrofters- Hard Rock Cafe- 10 p.m.- FREE
  • Mar. 7: Mixtape Alas Presents: Welcome 2 Atlanta Mixtape Release Party, featuring: Scotty- The Coolismac- Big Sant- Yellow Boyz- Tight- DJ Sizzle- DJ Mike Mars- The Masquerade (Purgatory)- 9 p.m.- $10
  • Mar. 9: Hangar Bangar Haus Party and Guac-Off, featuring- Sex BBQ- The Muletide Perkins Trio- Graham & Vann- The Hangar (new venue, details here)- 2 p.m.- FREE (donations accepted). The Hangar is a new community arts space, and to kick off the grand opening they are having a guacamole cook-off, with judging at 5 p.m. Patrons can enjoy food, drink and the musical performances, as well as other neighborhood surprises.
  • Mar. 9: The Southern Fried Side Show, featuring: The Pelvis Breastlies- Red Light Cafe- 8 p.m.- $10. The event will sideshow stunts courtesy Captain & Maybelle and juggling from Jamie Danger. Hosted by the Rose Bros.
