McKinnon’s Louisiane was started by Savannah native Billy McKinnon, who left his high-powered job as a stockbroker on Wall Street to take an apprentice job at a French creole eatery in New Orleans. The original location of the restaurant, just off Cheshire Road, was McKinnon’s place of business from 1972 to 1985. In 2002, McKinnon’s Louisiane switched ownership, as Billy was ready to retire at the age of 65. At that time, long-time employee Aziz Mehram, bought the place, continuing McKinnon’s commitment to the highest quality of food and service in the Atlanta area. Today, the restaurant continues to be known as one of the must-visit places for visitors to the Atlanta area.
