The Atlanta Braves franchise started out as the Boston Red Stockings of the National League back in 1876. The franchise became the Boston Beaneaters in 1883, the Boston Doves in 1907, the Boston Rustlers for one season in 1911, and the Boston Braves from 1912 to 1952 (they were the Boston Bees from 1936 to 1939).
In 1953, the franchise moved to Milwaukee and became the Milwaukee Braves. In 1966, the franchise moved to Atlanta and became the Atlanta Braves.

1. Andruw Jones (2005) - 51
The Atlanta Braves player who hit the most home runs in a season is Andruw Jones, who hit 51 home runs in 2005. Jones led the league that season in home runs, as well as RBIs with 128.
Though he was an excellent home run hitter in his career, and he played 12 seasons with the Atlanta Braves, Andruw Jones does not appear on this list again. For his career, Andruw Jones hit 368 home runs for the Braves, and 434 total home runs.
T-2. Hank Aaron (1971) - 47
Hank Aaron hit 47 home runs for the Atlanta Braves in 1971. That was the most home runs Hank Aaron ever hit in a season, and it is the second most home runs in a season by an Atlanta Braves player.
Hank Aaron did not hit 755 career home runs by having monster home run seasons like Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds did. Instead, Hank Aaron averaged 30 to 40 home runs a year almost every year for 23 major league baseball seasons. That's greatness.

Eddie Mathews hit 47 home runs for the Braves during the 1953 season. That was the Braves first season in Milwaukee. Mathews led the National League in home runs in 1953.
4. Eddie Mathews (1959) - 46
Eddie Mathews also led the National League in home runs in 1959, when he hit 46 for the Milwaukee Braves. That is the fourth most home runs ever hit in a season by a Braves player. Eddie Mathews hit 512 career home runs.
T-5. Chipper Jones (1999) - 45
Chipper Jones hit a career high 45 home runs for the Atlanta Braves in 1999. Chipper, who retired after the 2012 season, hit 468 career home runs, and had 1,623 RBIs and 1,619 runs scored. Chipper Jones is a lock for the Baseball Hall of Fame.
T-5. Hank Aaron (1962) - 45
Hammerin' Hank Aaron hit 45 home runs during the 1962 season for the Milwaukee Braves. Hank Aaron led the league four times in home runs, but that does not include either his 47 or 45 home runs seasons.
T-7. Andres Galarraga (1998) - 44
Andres Galarraga hit 44 home runs for the Atlanta Braves during the 1998 season. Galarraga hit 399 career home runs, including 72 with the Braves over just two seasons.
T-7. Dale Murphy (1987) - 44
Dale Murphy hit 44 home runs for the Atlanta Braves during the 1987 season. Murphy led the NationaL League twice in home runs (1984 and 1985), but his 44 home runs in 1987 did not lead the league.
