Atlanta Braves head to Spring Training!

With the Braves, along with the rest of Major League Baseball, getting ready to report to spring training, you might need to get your traveling shoes on and get ready to head down to Orlando, Florida. With the weather starting to feel a little more like winter, what better time is there to visit the Sunshine State? Here are a few travel tips and other bits of information you might like to take with you to Spring Training.

First thing you need to know, bring plenty of money for tolls, four or five dollars each way should be sufficient. Leave in the evening if you are good traveling through the night, as you might find traffic slightly less hectic when traveling at night. Make sure you book your hotel in advance, there’s really nothing worse than getting to your destination only to have to stay thirty minutes away because the hotels are all booked. Here is a list of great hotels in the Orlando area:

Grand Bohemian Hotel (4 star)

Walt Disney World Resort (3 star)

And of course you can always go to sites like Hotels.com and Priceline to find some great deals. Remember, when using sites like Priceline, always bid on the hotel rooms (you can get some great deals that way). When bidding on a hotel start at forty percent of the regular price of the star rating you’re looking for. If your first bid isn’t accepted, increase your bid by no more than eleven dollars and it will usually be accepted.

Be sure to check out some of the fantastic bars and restaurants in the area while you’re there. Orlando has some of the greatest places to eat and drink in Florida. You might even find a player or two if you go to the right place. The main thing to remember is to have fun and don’t worry about wins and losses. It’s Spring Training! Take a good hard look at the young talent that will undoubtedly be donning a Braves uniform in the next year or two. Be sure to check back for more on Atlanta’s rising stars and possible moves the Braves could make in February and March.
