The Atlanta based Wendy's/ Arby's Group Inc. plans to expand their operations throughout the Eastern Caribbean, including Trinidad and Tobago and eight other markets.
Trinidad can expect their first Wendy's in 2011. This push into the Caribbean is a welcome step within the west indian community. Many of which are big fans of all things American and look forward to enjoying classic American food in their homeland.
Previous ventures into the Carribean have been very successful. CEO Roland Smith said that restaurants in Puerto Rico and the Bahamas have performed strong over the years. This new expansion should continue that momentum.
The long term goal is to have restaurants in Antigua, Barbuda, Grenada, Guyana, St. Lucia, St Martin, St. Vincent and Suriname.
