A mix of contemporary works combined with classics comprise the 85th season of the Atlanta Ballet. With performances designed to appeal to the avid ballet enthusiast as well as the first timer or even the skeptic, the 2014-2015 announced on Friday by Artistic Director John McFall, is certain to please.

As always, Atlanta Ballet will start off the 2014 holiday season with their most reknowned work Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. To follow, Resident Choreographer Helen Pickett will bring the psychological humanity of World War II to the stage in Camino Real. The world premiere of this Tennesee Williams' inspired work will also feature the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra.

Hailed in 2014 as a "triumph for the Atlanta Ballet" by the AJC, critially acclaimed fan favorite Romeo & Juliette will return in 2015 for an encore presentation. Atlanta Ballet's mixed repertory showcase Modern Choreographic Voices is not only my favorite show of the year, but one major way Atlanta Ballet is expanding the base of ballet lovers in the metro Atlanta, as they "shatter the perception of dance" for modern audiences.

Keeping it familiar for families, Atlanta Ballet is also doing a limited run of Snow White, performed by the Atlanta Ballet Fellowship ensemble. A fun way to introduce younger patrons to the ballet with this enjoyable and vibrant visual narrative.
