Atlanta area tutor and after-school enrichment programs

See also

Let's face it, many working parents unfortunately don't always have the time (or simply the expertise) to tutor their children. And with what appears to be a week off from school due to the snow closings some parents may be worried their children will fall behind.

When children need a little extra homework help or an extra boost, Atlanta offers up a number of educational resources. In addition to the popular Kumon Centers, Sylvan Learning Centers, and Huntington Learning Centers here are a few other local resources.

Mathnasium

Just as the name suggests, Mathnasium is a math learning center designed to help students improve their math skills and overall understanding of math concepts.

Mathnasium tutors in basic math concepts in early education and preparation for high school exit exams and college placement tests.

There are 11 locations throughout the Atlanta area including Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Peachtree City and Smyrna, and Suwanee.

For more information, visit www.mathnasium.com or call 1-877-601-MATH.

Grades Up Learning Center

Grades Up Learning Center in Alpharetta offers programs in test prep and tutoring and after-school enrichment. Their sessions last up to 90 minutes and they provide low student/teacher ratios.

They are located within walking distance from Alpharetta high school and offer tutoring Monday through Friday.

For more information, visit www.gradesuplearning.com or call 678-762-8844.

Connective Tutoring

Some companies like Connective Tutoring will come to the parent's home. This company offers one-on-one in-home tutoring, providing support in a variety of subjects from foreign language and English to math and science.

Connective Tutoring uses students and alumni from Atlanta area schools such as Emory, Georgia State University and Georgia Tech.

For more information, visit www.connectivetutoring.com or call 404-671-8064.

Total Learning Concepts

Parents living in the Dacula, Lilburn or Logansville may find one of the Total Learning Concepts centers a nearby solution for children needing tutorial support.

Their centers offer instruction in reading, writing and math, as well as standardized test prepration and diagnostic testing. During the school calendar year Total Learning Concepts centers are open Monday through Friday and on Sundays.
