Atlanta 5K, 10K and Half Marathon Events for Fitness

The Holiday season, lovingly referred to by some as the eating season; is right around the corner and the closer it becomes the harder it is to stay focused on diet and exercise. An easy way to stay committed to your health during the holidays is to register for an event. Whether you’re into walking or running Atlanta hosts plenty of activities to keep you on track and avoid holiday weight gain.

If you’re new to running or like to walk for fitness a 5K, about three miles in length, could be a good fit for you. Regular runners who accomplish three miles, three or more times a week may opt for a 10K which is about 6.2 miles. Those looking for more of a challenge can go for the half marathon which is up to 13.1 miles in distance. Training time depends on fitness level but, half marathoners are good to allow at least 12 weeks to safely train for the distance.
