GammaAtheist.com hosted a live Google+ Hangout with 3 atheist military veterans. They discussed the often used quote "no atheists in foxholes". To claim that religion is found on the battlefield, through fear sums up religious belief very well, however, to make the claim there are no atheists in foxholes is an insult to the men and women in uniform who reject the concept of a deity. Their service to their country should not be demeaned based up your perception of their religious beliefs. It is also worth noting, those who make this erroneous claim are often those who have never put on a uniform and put themselves in such danger.
Each guest has struggled with their duties in different ways, and David, the host of Atheist Hangouts, allowed them to address what it was like to be an atheist in uniform. What it was like to not have a god to fall back on when times got tough.
Have a watch, this video is very important and veterans and non-veterans alike will learn a lot from what these courages men and women have to say.
