Over the last four years, AT&T has significantly added to the broadband infrastructure across the state.

According to a press release by The Wall Street Journal which was reported on March 19, from 2010 through 2013, AT&T invested over $200 million in both wired and wireless networks in the state of Iowa. The investment benefited both Iowa residents and business customers with wide ranging upgrades to enhance performance, reliability, speed and increase coverage. In 2013 alone, AT&T made more than 200 network upgrades in Iowa, which included 106 capacity enhancement additions, 84 enhanced fiber (Ethernet) backhaul additions and 26 new site builds. It was all part of an investment plan to enhance and expand its wired and wireless IP broadband networks as well as advance the company’s Project Velocity IP (VIP).

"Iowa residents depend on our fast and reliable Internet connections more and more every day, whether it's instant access to files and apps at work, watching a video at home, or even receiving updates from connected cars or home monitors," said director of external affairs, Beth Canuteson. "AT&T is making robust investments locally to make sure that residents can take full advantage of the latest services and tools, and that businesses have the speed they need to compete and grow."

Several markets were added to AT&T's extensive LTE network in 2013 including the Quad Cities, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines and the Interstate 80 section between Des Moines and Iowa City. Covering over 280 million United States customers with 4G LTE service, AT&T claims to provide the nation with the most reliable 4G LTE network today.

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad was pleased with the upgrade to the broadband infrastructure in his state. "This is great news for our state," Branstad said. "AT&T's significant investment in Iowa's wireless broadband infrastructure means that our homes, schools, health care facilities, businesses and first responders will have enhanced wireless service, better coverage and access to the latest high-speed wireless devices and online services and applications. That's good for our state's economy and the health, safety and welfare of Iowans." Another good thing that can be used is an AT&T Uverse coupon code to save them even more money.
