AT&T considering a purchase of Verizon Wireless

Supposedly, there is breaking news in the telecommunications industry regarding AT&T and Verizon. What is happening with those two companies has many lost in thought as well as scratching their heads if the FCC will actually allow this purchase to take place considering the buy could actually open the door for a monopoly combustion.

According to Newsworld, AT&T is ready to pay out a large sum of money for the purchase of Verizon Wireless, $1.9 billion to be exact:

AT&T will pay cash and trade AWS (advanced wireless services) spectrum for the B block of the 700MHz spectrum, the company said. Verizon will gain AWS spectrum licenses in several markets, including Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Portland, Oregon, AT&T said in a press release

Again, this opens Pandora’s box should the FCC allow this purchase to take place for the factor being AT&T is a large company with a current wireless capability as of now. As of now, there are few wireless carriers to choose from so this will limit the choice of cellular phone carriers to both consumers and business owners.
