At least six were killed in a bar shooting at The Mermaid bar near Cancun, Mexico Thursday. USA Today shared the latest details available on March 15. The culprits are unknown at this time.
Reports indicate that two cars arrived at the club Thursday afternoon, and two men from the cars went into the bar and started shooting. They are said to have used automatic rifles and a handgun, and it is said at least six were killed in the bar shooting. Some reports say seven died, and it seems at least four others were injured. Those injured are under protection from guards at the hospital.
The Cancun area has typically been left out of the drug violence that is prominent throughout other areas of Mexico. The Mermaid is located in a working class neighborhood, and it is said most of the victims were members of a taxi drivers union. Little else is known about this situation yet, as officials continue to investigate the incident that left six killed in the bar shooting.
