At home with Facebook

Facebook hasn't invented a phone - its introduced a new way to use the phones we already have. Earlier today, Facebook unveiled its lates app, Home.

Home, which will be exclusive to Android devices (at least for now), will make your current smartphone Facebook-centric, changing the way you use contacts, messaging, etc.

Home launches in the US April 12, and will be available for users operating on Android Jelly Bean and Ice Cream Sandwich. If you have the most current version of the Facebook and Messenger apps installed, you'll get a prompt to download Home once it's available.

The app will replace your home and lock screens with Cover Feed - a condensed version of status updates and full-screen photos direct from your Facebook friends.

Facebook Messenger for Android already integrates SMS - so the new feature (Chat Heads) will include Facebook messages as well as texts. The Chat Heads will appear at the top of your screen so you know exactly who you're chatting with, even while moving through other apps.

Facebook knows your other apps are important as well. Home will allow you easy access to all apps, and a quick launcher for your most-used and favorite.

"Home isn't a phone or an operating system, and it's also more than just an app. Home is a completely new experience that lets you see the world through people, not apps."
