Here is an opportunity to look at a green landscape (this article’s photo) instead of a white landscape (snow on the ground). Currently, Burnham Woods Golf Course certainly has a lot of snow on its fairways, on its teeing grounds, on its putting greens, on its cart paths and in its parking lot. (Burnham Woods Golf Course is at 14201 S. Burnham Avenue in Burnham, Ill.)

This golf course’s, 17th hole is par four. From the rear, Blue teeing ground, the average distance to the putting green is 387 yards. Three hundred seventy-six yards is the average distance from the middle, White teeing ground. From the front, Red teeing ground, the average distance is 364 yards. This hole has a #9, course hole handicap.

The 17th hole is straight and points northwest. The fairway is moderately wide. (Approximately 200 yards from the putting green the fairways is at its widest; it becomes very narrow as it approaches the putting green.) Tree lines are on both sides of the fairway, and these trees extend from the fairway’s beginning to the fairway’s end near the putting green.

This fairway lacks any water hazards or sand bunkers. No swales are on this hole. Swell (excellent) golfers may like this hole better than the other holes on this course because they have excellent chances to land their second shots on the putting green if their drives travel more than 260 yards.

The putting green is medium size. It is oval. It is not exceptionally difficult.
