At the age of seventy-five years, Jackie Collins continues to pump out bestsellers. February saw the publication of Collins twenty-ninth full length novel, “The Power Trip.” Collins has sold over five hundred million books in forty countries.
“The Power Trip,” takes readers on board a luxury yacht with owner and Russian oligarch Aleksandr Kasianenko and his super model girlfriend, Bianca. Along for the maiden voyage are five power couples eager for a high-end fantasy vacation. What they don’t know is that Kasianenko’s Russian mobster nemesis has hired a pirate to cut their trip short.
The new book has all the trademarks that have made Collins successful – rich, pretty, powerful people, luxurious settings, hot sex and a glimpse into how the one percent live. Like Collins twenty-eight other novels, this book has already hit the best-seller lists and captures the current pop-culture zeitgeist.
Always on top of trends, Collins website includes a playlist for the book (available for purchase on iTunes). The list includes songs by Will Smith, Sade, Sting, Santana and others. Unlike much of Collins work, her song list seems stuck in an earlier decade. Despite that fact, Collins is working hard at social media tweeting regularly @jackiecollins. Her books are all available in both print and eBook format.
In a recent interview on the Today Show, Collins told Matt Lauer she wasn’t about to start writing E.L. James style sex scenes, stating, ““My women kick butt. They don’t get their butt kicked, you know?”
