Arizona State University has mastered the art of successfully getting students moved in to their dorms on move-in day.
Students and parents start in the Wells Fargo Arena, on campus, and begin "check in". This is where students pick up their room keys, mailbox keys, sign up for clubs, meet fellow students and members of the Sun Devil Family Association. Once this process is complete, it's on to drop off students' belongings.
Again, this process is meticulously organized. Students and parents pull their cars right up to the dorm curb and items are unloaded into cardboard "bins" by friendly staff members. The bins are clearly marked with the student's room number and then taken to the student's dorm room by the staff. During this time, students and parents have time to park their car and grab a quick bottle of water (watering stations are located all over for hydration during move-in).
Once up to the dorm room, items have usually arrived and are waiting to be organized and put away! Staff members even come by to pick up boxes, trash, etc...so there is no need to haul them to the trash.
The entire process, from check-in to finished move-in, takes only a few hours, making for a very smooth transition for students and parents. The hardest part comes when it's time to say good bye!
Needless to say, Arizona State University is a leader in student move-in experience, excellence in new student orientation and incredible involvement by parents through the Sun Devil Family Foundation. Students who find themselves here are well taken care of and ready for an incredible University experience.
