This weekend at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences you can participate in Astronomy Days - celebrating 20 years of astronomy!  This program will be going on Saturday and Sunday and has something for the students and the teachers!

Per the website:  See the big picture — of the Universe. NASA exhibits, telescopes, astrophotography, kids' crafts and animals of the constellations. You can even launch your own rocket!  There will be stations set up by NASA as well as the Raleigh Astronomy Club bursting with information for you as well as stations presented by many area clubs and businesses such as Cary Space Camp (picture taken in a space suit on the moon!), Tripoli Rocketry Association, Semroc Astronautics Corporation, NC Academy of Sciences, CHAOS (Chapel Hill Astronomical and Observational Society), Meteorites and Meteorwrongs, NOAA National Weather Service, PARI (Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute), UNC-Chapel Hill, NC Space Grant, Morehead Planetarium (projection dome), Weightless Lumbees Microgravity Research (UNC-P) and the NC Aerospace Alliance.  And that's only a small sampling of exhibitors!

NASA will be presenting educator workshops in which you must pre-register for.  They are The National Institute of Aerospace Educator Workshop and the Space Weather Action Center Educator Workshop.  Admission to both of these workshops is free and they are for educators only.  You can click here to go to the registration form.

Leave your telescopes at home while you learn and explore all that there is to know about astronomy this weekend at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.  It is sure to please all of the astronomers in your family!
