Aston Villa chasing Manchester City outcast Joleon Lescott

Manchester City purchased Joleon Lescott at the top of his game three seasons ago from Everton. However, the now 30-year-old has seen his playing time drastically reduced at the Emirates this season due to new acquisitions over the summer. Reports from the Daily Mirror on Jan. 4, 2013 claim that he is the subject of a possible move to Aston Villa this month.

Aston Villa have had a horrid run of form in the last month. Despite a dominating victory over Liverpool, when the Reds proved to have one of the multiple off days this season, the Villains then proceeded to give up a slew of goals in a crushing loss to Chelsea.

The addition of Joleon Lescott to the defense would add veteran experience, leadership and a solid title winning defender to the mix and it would only be ironic to see him slot in beside a former Manchester City defender in Richard Dunne.

The Mirror also reports that Sunderland are interested in acquiring the player and it will likely be a two horse race to see which side makes the right offer first with the Citizens looking desperate to bring in some cash after several years of massively out spending most other clubs in the English Premier League.
