There is a 1,200-foot asteroid that has been sailing passed Earth according to some astronomers, and it will be returning on August 26, 2032. The next time the asteroid passes, it is threatening “to blow up the Earth,” so claims Dmitry Roqozin who is the Russian vice premier in charge of Russia’s space research. According to a Friday’s Fox News report, Roqozin wrote the prediction on his Twitter account – which is written in Russian.
Others, however, are saying that ht likelihood of the asteroid hitting Earth is extremely unlikely.
The asteroid’s threat was discovered on Saturday by Ukrainian astronomers who named the asteroid “2013 TV135.”
According to the astronomers in the Ukraine, the asteroid is approaching Earth on a potentially dangerous path. Besides calculating the due date of the next the asteroid comes near Earth, they have also acknowledged that the odds of impact are 1 in 63,000.
Additionally, easing one’s mind, NASA released a statement which said that it was 99,998 percent certain that the Earth’s next near-encounter with the asteroid in 2032 will sail past our planet as it did last September 16. Don Yeomans – the manager of NASA’s NEO Program said that this asteroid’s threat is a relatively new discovery, and with more observations, he fully expects that NASA will be able to significantly reduce or even rule out entirely any impact probability for the foreseeable future.
