Assemble the Legion is one of the newest "Magic: The Gathering" cards spoiled from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert expansion set "Gatecrash." Revealed during the live coverage of Grand Prix Atlantic City on Jan. 12, 2013, Assemble the Legion adds inevitability to any Boros aligned mage's deck.
Assemble the Legion - 3RW
Enchantment (Rare)
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a muster counter on Assemble the Legion. Then put a 1/1 red and white Soldier creature token with haste onto the battlefield for each muster counter on Assemble the Legion.
Assemble the Legion is best compared to Increasing Devotion. Although Increasing Devotion will give your more creatures up front, Assemble the Legion will pay off dividends in the long run. Assemble the Legion can grow large enough to help you survive a Zombie Apocalypse and defeat Endless Ranks of the Dead.
Because the Soldier creature tokens created by Assemble the Legion have haste, they'll be able to enable your Battalion creatures such as Boros Elite and Firemane Avenger. One fun casual deck idea might be to combine Assemble the Legion with Cathar's Crusade or Warstorm Surge.
After just a few turns, Assemble the Legion can become a nightmare for you opponent to deal with, even if they're running board sweepers like Terminus or Mutilate. Ironically, Assemble the Legion also works well in control decks for precisely the same reason. With Intangible Virtue or an emblem from Sorin, Lord of Innistrad, your Soldiers will be even deadlier.
How will you use Assemble the Legion?
