The Loveland Police Department confirmed Thursday an assault call occurring Feb. 24 involved Stanley Romanek. The incident was reported in a Feb. 26 post at the website of the 'Loveland Reporter-Herald', where the call was described as related to an 8 p.m. assault but did not include the names of individuals involved. 'Orlando Paranormal Examiner' confirmed the incident involved Romanek while requesting a copy of the police report.
The LPD was faxed a records request for the incident Wednesday. A telephone call was subsequently received from the department Thursday, inquiring about specifics of the request. During the conversation, the LPD representative conducted a search of a database for the Feb. 24 reported assault. It was subsequently discovered the incident, case 14-1352, involved Romanek. The representative explained they would check the availability of the report and indicated they would follow up accordingly.
In an email received shortly afterward, LPD indicated the case is not yet closed and the requested report is not yet available. "Case 14-1352 involving Stanley Romanek, an assault case," it was explained, was assigned to the Detective Unit and is not releasable at this time.
Sources close to Romanek have stated on occasion he was attacked Feb. 24. Injuries sustained were reportedly significant.
Romanek has long been at the center of controversy due to his claims of contact with an alien presence. He is an author and high profile member of the UFO community. He was arrested Feb. 13 on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, less than two weeks prior to the reported assault incident.
