'Assassin's Creed IV' might be pirate themed

Could the next “Assassin’s Creed” title be all about pirates? While this could be written off as a rumor, on Feb. 26 a tipster sent Kotaku marketing materials for something called “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag”

Ubisoft has yet to make an official announcement on a new “Assassin’s Creed” title just yet, other than the information that came in saying it will star a new character and setting, and is due out next fiscal year.

According to our tipster, the poster (shown above) will be on store walls on Monday, Mar. 4.
The posters features a white-hooded assassin, presumably the game’s protagonist, on a pirate ship surrounded by gruff-looking pirates. There’s a black pirate flag, sporting a skull and crossbones, in the background. An image of the full poster can be found here.

This isn’t the first time “Black Flag” has been mentioned as a working title. Last month, someone on Reddit claimed to have seen the title on an airplane, while peeking at a woman’s PowerPoint presentation.

The member in question, photoacoustic, wrote: “I was on a flight where the lady in the row in front of me was working on a PowerPoint presentation on marketing strategies of several gaming titles. And one that stood out the most was AC4: Black Flags, aimed for release 2013 Holiday season according to her slide. It had a cool looking logo for it.”
