Fans will not be returning to follow the modern day exploits of Desmond inside Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Instead the game will feature first-person segments set inside a modern era setting that will be largely optional. As reported by VG247 on Thursday, Game Director Ashraf Ismail recently revealed that the modern segments of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will encompass approximately three to five hours of additional gameplay.
Furthermore, those uninterested in this storyline and who would rather sail through pirate waters with Edward Kenway, will mostly be able to bypass these bits as only about 20 minutes of the modern era segments are a required part of the game’s story. The remainder of the modern day elements will be completely optional.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will put players in control of pirate Captain Edward Kenway in an adventure upon Caribbean waters set during the golden age of piracy. The Ubisoft title releases later this year on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii U, PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.
