Assassin's Creed 4 Trailer

Assassin’s Creed fans rejoice! Not only are you given confirmation of what the next Assassin’s journey is going to be, you’re being graced with a trailer as well! The trailer show cases dual-wielding pistol goodness, along with the cutlass that the newest Assassins will have as their personal choice.

The game has yet to be given a release date, yet fans are already being pelted with updates. So far, Ubisoft has revealed that you’ll be going back a bit further in time, to the Golden Age of Pirates. This is the early 18th century, before America had been fighting the British. To boot, you’ll be playing as Edward Kenway, father to Haytham and grandfather to Conner. This may reveal what happened to Haytham that sent him on the fall to the Creed.

Possible reasons for the change up of going into the past rather than advancing into the future of Desmond’s ancestors? There were quite a few unanswered questions, such as how the Assassins had fallen as much as they had in America and in Britain. Some may want to know what happened to Haytham, and perhaps his choice to leave the Creed brought up its downfall? Another possibility: More chance to do some incredibly well-received ship combat.

The newest addition to fighting that everyone looked forward had been the sea combat that Conner had gone through from time to time, along with all the bonus missions that went hand-in-hand with it. While advancing in the future wouldn't have made the sea combat obsolete, but going in the past where it had been an extremely important part of trade, combat, and travel, Ubisoft perhaps wanted to play off that a bit more.

Are you excited for the new Assassin’s Creed? Do you think it’ll live up to the vastly-loved franchise? What other improvements should Ubisoft do? Is going in the past a bad idea? Share in your comments below!
