Despite the fact that a recent trailer for the additional Playstation 3 Aveline missions within Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag stated that the DLC would be exclusive to Playstation systems for six months, Ubisoft has now revealed that the exclusive content will never release for any platform other than the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4. While the trailer made it seem that the content would be a timed exclusive, the developer confirmed to Eurogamer on Oct 29 that the bonus hour of missions starring Assassin’s Creed Liberation’s Aveline will indeed only be available on Playstation consoles.
The fact that Assassin’s Creed III also received exclusive DLC mission content on the Playstation 3and that Aveline originally appeared on Sony’s PS Vita, it’s no surprise that the new content for Assassin’s Creed IV will remain exclusive to the PS3 and PS4. However, it’s unclear why the trailer for the add-on ever specified a time frame for the Playstation exclusive content if there weren’t any plans to release the DLC on other platforms.
Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is now available on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Wii U. The game will later launch in November for PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.
