Aspen/Snowmass: Snowmass to open 5 days earlier than planned

Aspen/Snowmass announced today that Snowmass will open for skiing and riding on November 19th.  A couple of early snowfalls have laid a solid base enabling the resort to open 5 days earlier than its traditional Thanksgiving start date.  Snowmass will have four lifts running on the 19th.  The Big Burn, the Village Express, the Sky Cabriolet or the Skittles, and the Ski School Magic Carpet.

Vice President for Mountain Operations, Rich Burkley, stated, "The 2011/2012 season has started as a talented overachiever with near perfect snowmaking temperatures and abundant natural snowfall."

Other Colorado resorts plan to open this weekend, including Breckenridge.  Vail could also open earlier than expected.  One thing is for certain, the 2011-2012 ski season is upon us.
