Aspen/Snowmass opens for the summer tomorrow

Aspen/Snowmass announced that its summer officially begins tomorrow when the Silver Queen Gondola on Aspen Mountain and the Elk Camp Gondola and Chairlift at Snowmass open for daily operations.

New this season, the Perfect Summer package for $29 offers three days of gondola sightseeing tickets, on-mountain activities, a $10 lunch voucher for either the Sundeck or Elk Camp, and a voucher for a guided bus tour to the Maroon Bells.

Bike Snowmass, a network of downhill mountain biking trails accessed by Elk Camp Gondola also opens for daily service Saturday. For opening weekend daily Bike Snowmass tickets are 20 percent off. The Big Mountain Enduro will help kick off the beginning of the Bike Snowmass season Saturday and Sunday. For more information visit: www.bigmountainenduro.com/schedule/snowmass.

Free live music is also on the agenda this summer at Aspen/Snowmass as students of the world-renowned Aspen Musical Festival perform for free starting at 1 p.m. each Saturday from July 5 through Aug. 9 in the concert meadow at the top of Aspen Mountain.

Then there’s Bluegrass Sundays, featuring free and notable bluegrass acts at the top of Aspen Mountain from noon to 3 p.m. each Sunday, June 22-Aug. 31. Here’s the full lineup for Bluegrass Sundays:

Camp Aspen/Snowmass, a daily summer mountain adventure camp for children ages one through 16 has started and continues to run through Aug. 29.

Camp Aspen/Snowmass offers many activities in Snowmass, including fishing, hiking, biking, paintball, mountainboarding and more. The camp operates out of the Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center in Snowmass and takes advantage of everything the area has to offer.

The Kids Camp Pass costs $285. The pass includes free summer lift access on the Elk Camp Gondola and chairlift at Snowmass and the Silver Queen Gondola at Aspen Mountain. For more on Camp Aspen/Snowmass visit www.aspensnowmass.com/camp.

Snowmass will open for evening activities with Valhalla Nights, an extension of the popular Ullr Nights that takes place in the winter at Elk Camp on Friday nights, July 11 and 18 and 25, Aug. 1, 8, 15 and 29. New this summer, Valhalla Nights will also take place on Aug. 5, 12 and 19, which are all Tuesday evenings.
