On Monday, September 23, Aspen Comics released the first look inside the pages of “Executive Assistant: Assassins” #15 which will be in stores Wednesday, September 25. The issue is the conclusion to the four part story introducing the newest Executive Assistant, Daisy.
Daisy’s story by series writer Vince Hernandez, artist Lori Hanson, colorist Teodoro Gonzalez and letterer Josh Reed has revealed one of the more shocking origins of an Executive Assistant. From her beginnings as the daughter of an abusive man of power in New Orleans to her escape and finding love in the arms of a drug trafficker, Daisy’s life has never been easy. But she found purpose at the Academy, one of the many schools set up to train the Executive Assistants. Her training complete she returns to face her father.
Daisy returns home to New Orleans a full-fledged Executive Assistant, ready to make amends with the demons of her past. Yet, her powerful and calculating father has other plans for his personal "property", as he shows her the true nature of family binds. And even armed with the experience of an Executive Assistant, Daisy may still not be able to survive in this epic finale!
“Executive Assistant: Assassins” is inspired by real life events where men of power in China in the 1970s and 1980s employed secretaries who were also highly-trained personal bodyguards. This combination of secretary and bodyguard was developed in academies in China where women learned to type as well as they learned hand-to-hand combat techniques.
The concept originally appeared in “Executive Assistant: Iris,” but Aspen knew with so many academies out there, there would be other assassins in the world. Named after flowers each of these women have a story to tell, and the place for these stories to be told is “Executive Assistant: Assassins” the monthly series from Aspen Comics.
The series has introduced many new women who in the course of their employment have engaged in high levels of action and adventure. Hernandez has told compelling stories featuring several different assassins. The story of Daisy has been one of the more exciting and the final issue is sure to pack a massive punch.
