“Lola XOXO” is a visually stunning realization of its creator which showcases the perfect combination of beautiful artwork with a compelling narrative. The debut issues of the series have received critical acclaim and the third issue is sure to turn heads upon its release on July 9 at comic stores everywhere.
The series is created by the amazingly talented Oum who writes, draws, and colors every issue with an assist from Aspen’s letterer extraordinaire Josh Reed. The story follows Lola as she seeks to find her parents in a post-nuclear war ravaged America. Seeking to find her own independence, Lola embarked out into the world, away from the man who raised her and sheltered her for years following the fallout of the attack on the United States, and became involved with the traders who run what passes for commerce in her world.
Aspen’s official solicitation for “Lola XOXO” #3:
Lola departs on her first trading route, leaving the confines of New York City along with the Wasteland Trading Company. However, the perils that exist on the road can prove to be even worse than the city—and deadly . Meanwhile, Conrad decides to take matters into his own hands and find a way to go after Lola—at all costs!
One of 2014’s most exciting debuts, LOLA XOXO is ready to take you on an incredible adventure unlike any other.
“Lola XOXO” is one of the most striking renditions of a post-apocalyptic United States and definitely one of the top new series that has launched in 2014 to date. Oum will be appearing July 30 at The Comic Bug in Manhattan Beach as part of the “Damsels in Excess”/”Lola XOXO” Double Feature featuring Oum with Aspen Comics Editor-in-Chief Vince Hernandez.
