Aspen awarded the 2017 Audi FIS Alpine World Cup Finals

Aspen, CO beat out Lenzerheide, Switzerland and the country of Andorra to be awarded the event. The World Cup Finals includes both men's and women's events. It is also when the coveted crystal "globes" are awarded to the best athletes in each race discipline based on the points earned over the season.

The races will take place on March 15-19, 2017 and mark the first time that the men's tour has come to Aspen since 2011. It is also the first Finals in the USA since 1997. There is a long history of ski racing in Aspen, CO. It held the first World Championships outside of Europe in 1950.

According to John Rigney, Vice President Sales & Events, for the Aspen Skiing Company states, "This is outstanding news for Aspen Snowmass. Our community has avidly supported ski racing for over 60 years and the World Cup Finals brings tremendous excitement, a giant spotlight, and the very best athletes in the world to Aspen yet again. We can't wait."

Mark your calendars. Aspen will be the place to be on March 15-19, 2017.
