Ask Meg: Why does he only ask me out during the week?

Meg:

I’ve been seeing a guy for a couple weeks now and we seem to really be hitting it off. But, there’s one thing that is bothering me. He only asks me out during the week. So, no weekend dates. I don’t get it. Does this mean he’s not that into me?

-Not His Girl Friday

Dear Friday:

You don’t mention if this guy has kids or works on the weekend, which would be a huge factor in this situation, so I’m going to assume the answer is no to both. Everyone knows that Saturday night is date night, so I understand why you feel slighted. At the same time, you say that you’ve only been seeing him for a couple of weeks, so really, how much weekend dating can you get in during that amount of time? A lot of guys like to take things slow; have a few week dates and work their way up to the coveted weekend. So, I would say if he doesn’t clear his weekend schedule for you by date number four, you rank pretty low and in your words, he’s not that into you.

And, he’s not that into you because he’s got something else going on. Men fill their weekends getting laid by their girlfriends or at the bar with their buddies, trying to get laid. So, if you’re certain your man doesn’t have a girlfriend, it’s still possible he’s dating other women. Unless, of course, you two had the ‘exclusive’ talk. I doubt this is the case as it seems very early in the relationship to do so.  Men and women are known to use one another. I mean, it’s nice to have someone around, right? Life can get a little lonely. And, who doesn’t like to be taken out, or want someone to sit next to at the movies? These Friday, are what we call Week Dates.

Here’s hoping you make it to Saturday.

Best,

Meg
