Asia's Steve Howe announces his departure

Asia's guitarist, Steve Howe announced that he has officially relinquished his position as lead guitarist of the British supergroup, Asia in order to pursue other projects.

He stated in a recent media release from Asia's publicist Bruce Pilato: “Myself and the band wish to thank their fans for the enthusiasm shown during the original members reunion. I will continue with Yes and with my trio and solo guitar work. I wish my friends continued success.”

The three remaining members, Geoff Downes, John Wetton and Carl Palmer, also commented in the press release stating they are ready to take their career to the next level.

"ASIA is ready to take its next steps along this remarkable road. We cannot wait to perform again for the fans and also to unveil some of the new material, of which we are very proud,” John Wetton stated. Geoff Downes said, “We look forward to writing another chapter in Asia's history”. Carl Palmer commented, “We’re all looking forward to the next decade of great ASIA music."

The band released their thirtieth album; 'XXX' marking their thirtieth anniversary. The original band reunited in 2006 for a U.S. Tour followed by four world tours and several continental tours. They released three new studio albums, three DVDs and numerous live albums. This year, they plan to release another album entitled, "Valkyrie" on Frontier Records.

Asia has already secured another replacement to fill Howe's shoes. Newcomer guitar virtuoso, Sam Coulson will be joining them at Sweden Rock 2013.

Asia fans around the world anticipate the band's return on tour. Long live ASIA!
