Ashton Kutcher, Osama bin Laden's porn collection crash Twitter

News of Ashton Kutcher joining the cast of "Two and a Half Men" -- and a story about Osama bin Laden's massive porn stash -- generated so much Twitter traffic Friday morning that the social media site overloaded and crashed.

The white whale of death appeared on screen with the notice that "Twitter is over capacity."

Kutcher has so many Twitter followers -- more than 6.5 million -- that people write about him just to get attention. Early Thursday, he tweeted:

"I'm starting to become convinced that people put my name in articles just to improve their SEO or hoping I'll tweet it."

After he signed the "Two and a Half Men" contract that day, he posted another cryptic message:

"What's the square root of 6.25?" (Answer: 2.5.)

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news about Kutcher's deal with CBS at 8:07 p.m. and the topic immediately trended on Twitter.

Stewie Griffin, the character from Fox's "Family Guy," tweeted a reference to Kutcher's older wife, Demi Moore

"Ashton Kutcher might replace Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men. From tigerblood to cougarblood."

TV critic Tim Goodman wrote:

"Looks like Charlie Sheen got Punk'd. ... Soooo, Sheen is replaced by someone younger, better looking, less f-ed up and more Twitter followers. Duh, losing."

As of noon Friday, Twitter was still over capacity.
